TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT POR RETIRED POLICE CANINE T S AGREEMENT is made and entered into as of the � day of � , 2415 by and be#ween the CITY UF REDWOOD CITY, a charter city and murn pal corporation of the State of Califomia ("City"}, and Daniel Schillaci ("Buyer"), a retired R+edwood City Police Officer. RECITALS A. The City desires to transfer ownership of a retired Ci#y police dog known as "Clif," a German Shepherd, together with all maintenance equipment, kennel or other equipment or materials provided to Buyer by City in order to house and care for said canine. B. Redwood City Police Canine Ciif has lived with his handler, Buyer, dunng the canine's service to the City, and continues to be cared for and sheltered by Buyer. C. Clif is 11 years old and has senred the Police Department for 9 years. The dog's physicat condition is fair but due to its age it is not capable or qualified for transfer to a new owner and has been removed from active duty service by the Police Department. D. Police Department personnel have contacted Tyson Kennels, the vendor thraugh which the Department has purchased its existing police canines. Tyson Kennels has confirmed the canine should be retired from senrice due to its age and brief window of time remaining in his serviceable life. E. The City Councit of the Cit}r of Redwood City authorizes, by motion, the sale of surplus property in the form of one pafice service German Shepard named Ctiff to Buyer, his handler Officer Daniel Schillaci (retired), for the amount of$1.00. NOW, THEREFQRE, in consideration of these recitals, the Parties agree as fotlows: 1. The City, in consideration of One Dollar ($1.00) and other good and valuable consideration, receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, does hereby grant, bargain, sell, and assign to Buyer, his successors and assigns, the retired City police dog known as "Clif," an 11 year old German Shepherd, together with all maintenance equipment, kennel or other equipment or materials provided by City in order to house and care for said canine. Buyer shall be solely responsible for all care of and expenses related to Clif from and after the date of this agreement. 2. As is. The canine is transferred in "as is" condition for Buyer's personal use. It is understood that this canine was removed from police service due to age, which made such canine unqualified for further police purposes.
