1/25/2016 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 15469 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br /> CITY SUPPORTING THE KENNEDY SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL <br /> PROJECT AND THE HIGHWAY 101 UNDERCROSSING PROJECT <br /> AND SUBMITTING APPLICATIONS FOR MEASURE A PEDESTRIAN <br /> AND BICYCLE PROGRAM FUNDING FOR THE KENNEDY SAFE <br /> ROUTES TO SCHOOL PROJECT AND THE HIGHWAY 101 <br /> UNDERCROSSING PROJECT <br /> RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redwood City, that <br /> WHEREAS, the City is committed to increasing the safety of bicyclists and <br /> pedestrians and promoting active transportation within Redwood City, and <br /> WHEREAS, the City completed a walking audit for Kennedy Middle School and <br /> held finro community meetings to discuss improvements specifically for the intersection <br /> of Alameda de las Pulgas and Goodwin Avenue, and it has created the Kennedy Safe <br /> Routes to School Project to implement the audit recommendations and intersection <br /> improvements, and <br /> WHEREAS, it will cost $1,500,000 to implement the project scope, and <br /> WHEREAS, the City has committed to building a bicycle and pedestrian <br /> connection for new and existing residents east of Highway 101 to access the services <br /> and amenities (including Downtown Redwood City) west of Highway 101, and it has <br /> created the 101 Undercrossing Project, and <br /> WHEREAS, it will cost $3,000,000 to implement the project scope, and <br /> WHEREAS, the City wishes to sponsor the implementation of the Kennedy Safe <br /> Routes to School Project and the Highway 101 Undercrossing Project, and <br /> WHEREAS, the City seeks $500,000 for the Kennedy Safe Routes to School <br /> Project and $500,000 for the Highway 101 Undercrossing Project, and <br /> WHEREAS, on June 7, 1988, the voters of San Mateo County approved a ballot <br /> measure to allow the collection and distribution by the San Mateo County <br /> ATTY/RE50.0001/CC RESO MEASURE A PEDESTRIAN&BICYCLE PROGRAM Reso.#15469 <br /> REV:01-08-16 VR MUFF#454 <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br />
