MINUTE ORDER <br />JOINT CITY COUNCIL / SUCCESSOR AGENCY BOARD <br />PUBLIC FINANCING AUTHORITY MEETING <br />January 23. 2017 <br />MO. 17-019 <br />CITY CLERK DEPARTMENT <br />Redwood City <br />Date: January 25, 2017 <br />Attention: City Attorney <br />City Manager <br />**hard copy available upon request** <br />SUBJECT: Adopt Ordinance Amending Municipal Code Section 2.27.6 to Adjust City <br />of Redwood City Elections to Even Years to Adhere to the California <br />Voter Participation Rights Act (California State Senate Bill 415) <br />AGENDA ITEM: 8.13 (305) <br />Meeting of the Joint City Council/Successor Agency Board/Public Financing Authority <br />Meeting on January 23, 2017. <br />Present: Council Members, Aguirre, Borgens, Gee, Howard, Masur, Vice Mayor Bain and <br />Mayor Seybert <br />Recommendation: <br />Waive first reading and introduce an Ordinance amending Section 2.27.6 of the Redwood <br />City Municipal Code regarding General Municipal Elections. <br />Two ordinances to adhere to Senate Bill (SB) 415 are provided for City Council <br />Consideration. <br />Council Action: <br />M/S Masur/Howard to direct staff to bring back an ordinance moving Redwood City's next <br />elections to the statewide primary elections in 2018 and 2020 and subsequently consolidating <br />with the statewide general elections starting with November 2022. <br />Motion carried 6-1 by roll call vote with Vice Mayor Bain opposing. <br />Council consensus was to have staff include cost estimates for such actions in the <br />staff report when it comes back. <br />Silvia Vonderlinden <br />City Clerk <br />
