2/27/2017 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15566 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY <br />SUPPORTING ASSEMBLY BILL 1 (ASSEMBLYMEMBER FRAZIER) <br />AND SENATE BILL 1 (STATE SENATOR BEALL) REGARDING <br />TRANSPORTATION FUNDING <br />WHEREAS, Assembly Bill (AB) 1 and Senate Bill (SB) 1 are similar proposals <br />before legislators for the State of California in the 2017-2018 regular legislative session <br />which seek to stabilize funding, increase revenue sources, reorganize State <br />transportation entities, and facilitate the implementation of transportation projects; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redwood City sought to address <br />traffic congestion and transportation safety by identifying Transportation as one of its 5 <br />priorities in the 2016-2017 fiscal year; and <br />WHEREAS, AB 1 and SB 1 may provide additional funds for transportation <br />projects and programs through a combination of fuel tax and vehicle registration fee <br />increases, cap and trade revenues, loan repayments, and local revenue protections; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, AB 1 and SB 1 would present the City with additional funds to <br />address the City's transportation initiatives and projects; and <br />WHEREAS, maintaining and improving the local street and roadway system may <br />provide jobs and can help improve the local economy. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF REDWOOD CITY, HEREBY: <br />1.
