03/13/2017 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15571 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY TO INITIATE PROCEEDINGS TO AMEND THE <br />STRATEGIC GENERAL PLAN OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AS <br />REQUESTED BY THE SOBRATO ORGANIZATION IN CONNECTION <br />WITH THE 1401 BROADWAY PROJECT <br />WHEREAS, the Applicant, The Sobrato Organization, has submitted an <br />application to redevelop the property located at 1401 Broadway with a mixed-use <br />development consisting of residential, commercial office, and retail uses; and <br />WHEREAS, the proposed mixed-use development would be subject to the City's <br />Affordable Housing Impact Fee Ordinance (Ord. No. 2417), which allows for the <br />payment of a fee, development of affordable housing units as part of the proposed <br />project site, development of affordable housing units off-site, or a combination of these <br />methods; and <br />WHEREAS, the Applicant has acquired additional parcels of land directly across <br />Woodside Road from the 1401 Broadway project site (054-022-070, -150, -160, -170, <br />and -200); and <br />WHEREAS, the Applicant seeks an option to satisfy the affordable housing <br />impact fee by developing up to 120 affordable housing units on the additional parcels, if <br />feasible; and <br />WHEREAS, the additional parcels currently carry a General Plan Land Use <br />designation of Light Industrial - Incubator Overlay, which does not allow residential <br />uses; and <br />WHEREAS, the Applicant seeks a General Plan Amendment to designate <br />parcels 054-022-070, -150, -160, -170, and -200 as Mixed Use - Corridor as part of the <br />entitlements for the above properties; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 18.61 of the Redwood City Municipal Code provides for the <br />adoption by the City Council of a Resolution of intention to amend the General Plan. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. The recitals set forth above are true and correct and are hereby incorporated <br />by this reference as if fully set forth in their entirety. <br />2. The City Council hereby initiates proceedings to amend the General Plan as <br />ATTY/RESO.0025/CC RESO TO INITIATE PROCEEDINGS& AMEND STRATEG I C GENERAL PLAN —SOBRATO RESO.
