<br />AN ORDINANCE CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION IN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY,
<br />COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUB-
<br />MITTING AND SUBMITTING TO THEQUALIFIED VOTERS OF SAID CITY THE PROPO-
<br />SITION OR PROPOSAL TO ATIENL SECTION 4, SECTION 26, SECTION 56 AND
<br />SECTION 91 OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AND TO AMEND
<br />SAID CHARTER BY THE ADDITION THERETO OF THE FOLLOWING NUMBERED
<br />SECTIONS, TO -WIT: SECTION 47, SECTION 47a, SECTION 47b, SECTION 47c,
<br />SECTION 47d, SECTION 47e, SECTION 47f, SECTION 47g, SECTION 47h,
<br />SECTION 48, SECTION 48a, SECTION 48b, SECTION 48c, SECTION 48d,
<br />SECTION 48e, SECTION 48f2 SECTION 48g, SECTION 490 SECTION 498,
<br />SECTION 49b, SECTION 49c, SECTION 49d, SECTION 49e, SECTION 50,
<br />SECTION 50a, AND SECTION 53 1/2, AND CONSOLIDATING SAID SPECIAL
<br />ELECTION WITH A SPECIAL ELECTION IN SAID CITY OF REDWOOD CITY FOR
<br />THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORS OF SAID CITY OF REDWOOD
<br />CITY THE PROPOSITION OF INCURRING A BONDED INDEBTEDNESS OF SAID
<br />CITY FOR THE ACi.UISITION OF THE FOLLOWING MUNICIPAL IMPROVEMENT
<br />OF SAID CITY, TO WIT: A MUNICIPAL HARBOR: DECLARING THE ESTIMATED
<br />COST OF SAID MUNICIPAL IMPROVEMENT, THE AMOUNT OF PRINCIPAL OF
<br />SAID INDEBTEDNESS TO BE INCURRED THEREFOR, AND THE MAXIMUM RATE
<br />OF INTEREST TO BE PAID THEREON: FIXING THE DATE OF SAID ELECTION,
<br />THE MANNER OF HOLDING THE SAME, ESTABLISHING ELECTION PRECINCTS
<br />AND POLLING PLACES FOR SAID ELECTION AND APPOINTING BOARDS OF
<br />ELECTION THEREFOR, AND PROVIDING FOR NOTICE THEREOF.

<br />71M EREAS, the Council of the City of Redwood City did heretofore,
<br />as provided by the constitution and laws of the State of California,
<br />propose on its own motion, certain proposed amendments to the Charter
<br />of the City of Redwood City, to -wit:
<br />That section 4 of the Charter of the City of Redwood City be
<br />amended to read as follows:
<br />Section 4. NOMINATIONS AND
<br />ELECTIONS: General municipal
<br />elections shall be held in said city
<br />on the second Tuesday in April of
<br />each even -numbered year under
<br />and pursuant to the provisions of
<br />the general laws of the State of
<br />California governing nominations
<br />and elections in the cities of the
<br />sixth class, so far as the same
<br />may be applicable, and except as
<br />herein otherwise provided.
<br />Ali other municipal elections
<br />that may be held by authority of
<br />this charter or of general law
<br />shall be known as special munici-
<br />pal elections, and shall be held
<br />substantially as in this charter
<br />provided for general municipal
<br />elections; provided, however, that
<br />special elections to authorize any
<br />municipal or local public improve-
<br />ment or the levy of assessments
<br />therefor, or to create a municipal
<br />bonded indebtedness, shall be held
<br />in conformity with any general
<br />law of the state relative thereto
<br />under which any such proceeding
<br />is instituted by the council, in
<br />case such general law provides for
<br />the procedure and manner of hold-
<br />ing elections thereunder.
