Mr. Bogie introduced the two <br />newly appointed members, ~.Sa~ E. liberson, representing <br />the Junior. Ch~er of Co~erce, md~. E~er Ross, re- <br />presenting the Commuters Club. <br /> <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of September 23rd. <br />were read and approved. <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS: <br /> <br />Ci ty Manager Dimmi tt read A, letter from a resident <br />who suggested that if 'the Ci ty would dis-c the alleys that <br />it would prevent the growth of weeds. -He also hoped that <br />thru the schools or papers that the playing of baseball and <br />,football in the streets could be discouraged. <br /> <br />Recreation, Director Morton wrote to Chairman Bog'ie <br />asking that 'a Recreation Site Committee ,be appointed to <br />meet with a committee from the 1942 Peninsula Celebration <br />Association, to go over the plans for the Site at Broadway <br />and Chestnut Street. - <br /> <br />OLD BUSINESS: <br /> <br />Mr. Splnas - reporting on the California. Community <br />Recreation Enabling Act passed on by the Califonnia Legislature <br />in 1939. -,a <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />- The purposes of this act are (1) to promote and preserve <br />'the health and general welfare of the people of the State and <br />to cultivate the development of good citizenship by provision <br />for adequate programs, of community recreation; and (2) to <br />,authorize cities, counties, cities and counties and public <br />school districts to ,organize, promote and conduct such <br />programs of community recreation as will contribute to the <br />attainment of general educational and recreational objectives, <br />for children and adults of the State of California. <br /> <br />,:' ,'- ' <br /> <br />, \" 'IIi- ' <br /> <br />" ¡'c. <br /> <br />No event for which an admission price is charged <br />shall be held pursuant' to the provisions of this act, except <br />amateur athletic contests, demonstrations or exhibits and <br />other educational and noncommercial events., <br /> <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />.
