<br />~," <br /> <br /> <br />,'fZ2 <br /> <br />REDWOOD CITY PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />... <br /> <br />.... <br /> <br />" July 1, 1959 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called <br />to order by Chairman Maurice Schutz at 8: 10 p.m. in the Conference.e <br />Room at the City Hall. <br /> <br />" I <br /> <br />On roll call the folrowing were present Chairman Maurice Schutz. <br />Commissioners; J~es Knecht, William Hanley, Catherine Brennan and <br />L~ise Tornell. Notedabsem were Co~issioners Irvi~ Gold wd <br />Al~ Beals. Also, present were Red Morton, Recre~ion Director <br />and Pasco Balzarini, Park Superintendent. <br /> <br />M. S. C. th at the minutes of June 3 be approved as mailed TtJ i t~ note <br />to correction on page 1, paragraph 4 to read North Redwood Little <br />League instead of Kiwanis Club and the last paragraph the worft "be" <br />to be added. <br /> <br />Making personna1 appearance were Mr. Leroy Simpson, 2719 Whipple <br />Aveooe and Mr. E. Price, 40 Circle Road. They were seeki~ recom- <br />mendation from the Cornmission to develop Circle Park. IvIr. Simpson <br />has met with the City Council and the City Manager on the subject. <br />Also, he had taken it upon himself to contact the residents around <br />the park to get their feelings on developing this area. All Here <br />in favor and five of the residnets are willing to donate the back <br />portion of their lots in order to help uniform the park. <br /> <br />Commissioner Kn~cht made a motion that a letter be wri tten to the Ci tly <br />Manager ecommending that the City accept the rear parcels of land, , <br />which are approximately 50' x 17~, from Price and Harrison in order <br />to help uniform Circle Park~be developed and accept parcel, Commissioner <br />Hanley seconded the motion. ~ . <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Chairman S'ohutz read a letter from the City Manager, James Neal which <br />was in answer to the Commissions request to determine Commissioners <br />Golds status on the Commission. The letter stated there was nothing <br />in the Charter that made reference to the absence of a Commissioner <br />from meetings. <br /> <br />A letter to Ralph Shaw from the Commission was read by Chairman Schutz. <br />This letter was the results of a special meeting held by the <br />Co~ission tn regards to their bei~ in favor of a F~ny Club <br />development. <br /> <br />Stulsaft Park - Gold - In Commissioners Golds absence Pasco Balzarini <br />reported that sixteen women from St. Pius Church were present <br />at the park today for a picnic. Also, the past week-end was a filled <br />week-end with people using the park. At Mr. Balzarinits suggestion <br />Co~issioner Hanley ~de a motion that a letter be written to Nich <br />Ca'~uto J 16!t Atherwood Avenue and Redwood Material Co. J H.
