<br />i <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF JUNE 10,1987 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: <br /> <br />Chairman Anderson, Vice-chairman Buchan, <br />Commissioners Howard, Mortensen, Nordness, <br />Swope and Weiss <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: <br /> <br />Parks, Recreation and Community Services <br />Director Griffiths and Secretary Frei <br /> <br />Chairman Anderson called the regular meeting to order at 7:35 p.m. <br />The minutes of the last meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - ARCHITECT" FOR RED MORTON CENTER <br /> <br />The possibility of soliciting proposals for a feasibility study for <br />the renovation of Red Morton Center was discussed. Red Morton Center <br />staff had compiled a list of architects whi.ch had experience in such <br />projects. Director Griffiths said staff would consider sending out <br />RFP's pending the outcome of the possible bond issue. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - 4TH OF JULY PARADE <br /> <br />Several Commissioners will be involved in the production of the <br />parade, so coordination with respect to the Commission riding the <br />fire truck provided by Thompso"n Toyota is essentiaJ_. Commissioners <br />Howard and Weiss will take care of the sign on the truck and Chairman <br />Anderson will speak with Superintendent Hartman on the scheduling for <br />Commissioners to sell the 50th Annlversary booklets. <br /> <br />It was decided each Commissioner woul.d receive a 50th Anniversary <br />polo shirt to wear in the parade. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - DAY PERMIT FOR ALCOHOL IN THE PARKS <br /> <br />Chairman Anderson asked the Commission their ideas on a day permit <br />allowing alcohol consumption in the parks. Several requests for such <br />have come through from various departments and personnel and he felt <br />it warranted discussion. Many Commissioners expressed opposition <br />stating the Police Department was still in the education stage and <br />such an exception would decidedly confuse and frustrate patrons. It <br />was agreed that larger, more visible signs would be helpfu]~ as well. <br />as consistent enforcement. <br /> <br />Chairman Anderson also suggested an articl.e in the next brochure <br />explaining the new ordinance. <br /> <br />
