<br /> <br />. <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, JULY 25, 2001 ' <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Joseph, Commissioners Davis, <br />La Berge, Swope, and Truscelli <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Morton and Walsh <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Julia Middlestadt, Richard Anderson, Tony Balsamo, <br />Vince Truscelli, Ann Palau and family, Jason Strubing, <br />Laura Lipson, Killian Lipson, Brooklyn Lipson <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Gary Hover, Secretary Denise Monroe, <br />Director Corinne Centeno, Recreation Manager Adilah <br />Haqq-Smith, Superintendent Chris Beth <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order by Chairperson Jeri Joseph at 7:30pm in Room 5 of the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The June minutes were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />CORRESPON DENCE <br /> <br />-A newsletter from the Audubon Society of Santa Clara Valley was received. <br />-An invitation to attend a farewell party for City Attorney Dave Schricker on <br />August 3 at City Hall from 4:30-6:30pm. <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br />Julia Middlestadt, new president of The Shore Dogs group, spoke about the <br />planned repairs at Shore Dogs Park and the need for $30,000 for additional <br />park improvements. Superintendent Hover stated that the park has had far <br />heavier use than expected and the turf area has been re-sodded. <br />Commissioner Davis suggested gathering data about use at Shore Dogs Park <br />to build a case for another dog park in Redwood City I <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - SKATE PARK UPDATE <br /> <br />Director Centeno reviewed the draft skate park report to City Council which <br />will be presented on August 13. She gave an update about meetings held <br />with park neighbors and stated that several issues were raised at the <br />meetings such as looking at other possible sites. She also reported that two <br />citizens spoke before Council on July 23 regarding the proposed skate park <br />
