<br />MSR:dp:3/2l/77 <br />MSR:dp:4/8/77R <br />MSR: jp: 5/6/77R <br />MSR: jp: 5/l0/77R <br /> <br />0 R DIN A N C E <br /> <br />~Q.1705 <br /> <br />ORIGINAL <br />MAY 23 197.1 <br /> <br />--------- <br /> <br />ORDINANCE ADDING CHAPTER 33A TO THE CODE OF THE CITY <br />OF REDWOOD CITY, RELATING TO USES OF RIGHTS OF WAY <br />(TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURES) <br /> <br />THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. <br /> <br />Chapter 33A is hereby added to the Code of the <br /> <br />City of Redwood City to read as follows: <br /> <br />"CHAPTER 33A <br /> <br />"USES OF RIGHTS OF WAY <br /> <br />"ARTICLE I. TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURES. <br /> <br />"Section 33A.l. <br /> <br />Definition. <br /> <br />For the purposes of this <br /> <br />article, a temporary street closure shall mean a block party, <br /> <br />local special event, festival, celebration, concert, or any <br /> <br />similar occurrence to be conducted within an area not <br /> <br />exceeding one city block or one intersection, in the City <br /> <br />of Redwood City, at least two-thirds of which area is <br /> <br />residentially zoned and to which a majority of owners, <br /> <br />residents, or tenants of properties fronting upon such area <br /> <br />consent, which is sponsored solely by such owners, residents <br /> <br />or tenants, and is not for commercial or advertising purposes <br /> <br />or profit. <br /> <br />"Any temporary street closure authorized in whole or in <br /> <br />part by the city for municipal purposes, including, but not <br /> <br />limited to, conveyance of traffic, travel, or facilitating <br /> <br />of an event of a general civic or public nature, is exempt <br /> <br />from this chapter. <br /> <br />"Section 33A.2. <br /> <br />Permit Required. <br /> <br />It shall be unlawful <br /> <br />for any person to participate in, advertise for or in any way <br /> <br />promote, organize, control, manage, solicit, or induce <br /> <br />participation in a temporary street closure unless a permit <br /> <br />1 705 <br />
