RESOLUTION NO. 18-02 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY <br />OF REDWOOD CITY UPHOLDING THE APPEAL OF JEFFREY <br />IRA AND OVERTURNING THE ZONING ADMINISTRATOR <br />APPROVAL OF ARCHITECTURAL PERMIT NO. AP2017-069 FOR <br />253 IRIS STREET <br />WHEREAS, the applicant, Sarah Potter (Applicant), on behalf of Alex <br />Chew (Property Owner), has applied for an Architectural Permit to construct a <br />new 3,135 square foot single-family residence (the Project) at 253 Iris Street (the <br />Property); and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 45.3 of the Zoning Ordinance, the Zoning <br />Administrator is authorized to review and approve such Architectural Permits; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, on December 1, 2017, the Zoning Administrator issued a <br />Notice of Official Action for Architectural Permit No. AP2017-069, approving the <br />Project because the required R-1 Zoning District Standards were met and the <br />Architectural Permit Findings were made; and <br />WHEREAS, on December 13, 2017, an appeal of the Zoning <br />Administrator's decision to approve the Architectural Permit was filed with the <br />City Clerk by Jeffrey Ira (Appellant); and <br />WHEREAS, on February 9, 2018, a public hearing notice was published in <br />the San Mateo Daily Journal and mailed to interested parties and all property <br />owners within 300 feet of the Property; and <br />WHEREAS, on February 20, 2018, the Planning Commission of the City <br />of Redwood City held a duly noticed de novo public hearing in accordance with <br />all applicable requirements of the State Planning and Zoning Law and the <br />Redwood City Zoning Ordinance, to consider the appeal; and <br />WHERAS, on February 20, 2018, the Appellant, the Applicant, and all <br />other interested parties were given the opportunity to participate in the public <br />hearing through oral testimony and the submittal of written comments; and <br />WHEREAS, on February 20, 2018, the Planning Commission fully <br />reviewed, considered, and evaluated the staff report prepared for the Project <br />including the attachments to the staff report, oral and written public testimony, <br />and all other documents and evidence in the public record on the Project and the <br />appeal; and <br />WHEREAS, the Commission determined that the proposed house does <br />not fit with the character of the neighborhood because of its size and design and <br />ATTY/RESO.0016/PC RESO APPEAL FOR 253 IRIS STREET <br />REV: 02-28-18 PR <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
