04/08/2019 RESOLUTION NO. 15747 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY APPROVING TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURES IN THE VICINITY OF ARGUELLO STREET AND BRADFORD STREET FOR A SEASONAL DOWNTOWN FARMERS' MARKET WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club has requested permission from Redwood City to continue to operate a farmers' market in the vicinity of Arguello Street and Bradford Street, as more particularly depicted on Exhibit 'A," attached hereto and incorporated by reference: and WHEREAS, the farmers' market would be operated on Saturday mornings from April through November of each year starting in April 2019 through November 2024 with two one-year extensions under a proposed revocable license agreement; and WHEREAS, after reviewing plans for the event and the traffic patterns, City staff has determined and recommended that, in the interest of the safety and welfare of pedestrian and auto traffic in the Downtown area, the above streets should be temporarily closed to through traffic for the times shown below. 1. Arguello Street between Marshall Street and a point approximately 530 feet northwest toward Brewster from 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 2. Bradford Street from Arguello Street to a point approximately 150 feet northeast toward Warren Street (to mid -block) from 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: 1. All of the above findings are true and correct. 2. Pursuant to the authority of Vehicle Code section 21101(e), for the safety and protection of persons, both pedestrians and vehicle drivers, the City Council hereby authorizes the temporary closure of the above listed streets for the dates and times described above.
