GARDNER CENTER <br />(Redwood City 2020) <br /> <br />THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered in this 4r/ day of <br />t ~41AERJ ,2006, by and between the COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, a political <br />subdivision of the State of California ("County"); the CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, a <br />charter city and municipal corporation of the State of California ("City"); REDWOOD <br />CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT, an elementary school district ("Elementary School District"); <br />SEQUOIA UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT, a high school district ("High School <br />District"); and JOHN W. GARDNER CENTER, a Stanford-based center ("Gardner <br />Center"), all of which entities are referred to collectively as "the Parties." <br /> <br />WITNESSETH: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in 1995 the City, Elementary School District, High School District <br />and County formed Redwood City 2020 (formerly known as Redwood City 2000) to <br />provide leadership and oversight necessary to develop a coordinated system from birth <br />to 12th grade to strengthen academic and social outcomes for children and youth and <br />provide valuable resources to families so they can be successful primary caregivers to <br />their children, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, each year, since the formation of Redwood City 2020, the City, <br />Elementary School District, High School District and County have renewed the <br />Redwood City 2020 partnership by formal agreement; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in June 2003, the Gardner Center became a partner in Redwood <br />City 2020; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Parties desire to renew the Redwood City 2020 formation <br />agreement for Fiscal Year 2006-2007. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, IN CONSIDERATION OF THE MUTUAL COVENANTS <br />AND CONDITIONS CONTAINED HEREIN, THE PARTIES AGREE AS FOllOWS: <br /> <br />1. Purpose. The Parties are entering into this Agreement for the sole <br />purpose of providing assistance to, and allowing the establishment of, Redwood City <br />2020. Redwood City 2020 exists for two major purposes: <br /> <br />a.
