NAN C ~ NO. / ~33 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: AMENDING SECTION 3.94 OF, AND ADDING SECTIONS <br />3 . 71.1 AND 3.109.1 TO, ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 3 OF THE CODE <br />OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, PERTAINING TO MARQUEE SIGNS <br /> <br />THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Section 3.94 of the Code of the City of Redwood <br /> <br />City is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />"Section 3.94 <br /> <br />No sign shall be attached to, anchored <br /> <br />in, supported by any structure or pole placed on or otherwise <br /> <br />located on or allowed to extend into public property, except <br /> <br />as otherwise provided in this section, unless a revocable <br /> <br />permit to do so is first obtained from the City Council. <br /> <br />"Signs supported entirely on private property may <br /> <br />extend up to four feet into a public right of way, provided, <br /> <br />that in no event shall any sign be permitted to extend within <br /> <br />three feet of any portion of a public right of way used <br /> <br />principally for vehicular traffic unless such sign is main- <br /> <br />tained solely within private property. <br /> <br />"Portions of signs extending into a public right of <br /> <br />way shall have a minimum vertical clearance of ten feet <br /> <br />between the bottom of the sign or its supporting structure <br /> <br />and the surface of the ground or sidewalk below, except that <br /> <br />a marquee sign shall have a minimum vertical clearance of <br /> <br />nine. fee t . " <br /> <br />SECTION 2. Sections 3.71.1 and 3.109.1 are hereby added <br /> <br />to the Code of the City of Redwood City to read as follows: <br /> <br />"Section 3.71.1 <br /> <br />The words 'marquee sign' shall mean <br /> <br />any sign attached to or supported by a marquee. <br /> <br />"Section 3.109.1 <br /> <br />A marquee sign shall be rigidly <br /> <br />supported by or attached to only the underside of a marquee, <br /> <br />may be constructed of combustible materials, and shall not <br />
