NAN C ~ NO. / ~33 ORDINANCE: AMENDING SECTION 3.94 OF, AND ADDING SECTIONS 3 . 71.1 AND 3.109.1 TO, ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 3 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, PERTAINING TO MARQUEE SIGNS THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 3.94 of the Code of the City of Redwood City is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 3.94 No sign shall be attached to, anchored in, supported by any structure or pole placed on or otherwise located on or allowed to extend into public property, except as otherwise provided in this section, unless a revocable permit to do so is first obtained from the City Council. "Signs supported entirely on private property may extend up to four feet into a public right of way, provided, that in no event shall any sign be permitted to extend within three feet of any portion of a public right of way used principally for vehicular traffic unless such sign is main- tained solely within private property. "Portions of signs extending into a public right of way shall have a minimum vertical clearance of ten feet between the bottom of the sign or its supporting structure and the surface of the ground or sidewalk below, except that a marquee sign shall have a minimum vertical clearance of nine. fee t . Sections 3.71.1 and 3.109.1 are hereby added to the Code of the City of Redwood City to read as follows: "Section 3.71.1 The words 'marquee sign' shall mean any sign attached to or supported by a marquee.
