01/23/2007 ORIGINAL RESOLUTION NO. 14761 A RESOLUTION APPROVING JOB DESCRIPTIONS FOR SPECIFIC CLASSIFICATIONS AND AMENDING CLASSIFICATION PLAN TO ADD SPECIFIED POSITIONS IN THE PUBLIC WORKS SERVICES AND PARKS, RECREATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENTS WHEREAS, job specifications for the positions of Public Works Maintenance Worker III, Public Works Maintenance Worker I-II, Lead Public Works Maintenance Worker, Consumer Service Technician, Customer Support Service Specialist, Utilities Locator, Utilities Specialist, Fleet Manager, Fleet Supervisor, and Custodian Services Supervisor have been prepared by the Human Resources Department, and reviewed by the City Manager; and WHEREAS, this Council has reviewed said specifications and desires to evidence approval thereof; and WHEREAS, Cal-OSHA and the Department of Health Services have established that a State certification be required in the areas of water distribution and crane operations. As a result of the above mentioned requirements the Public Works Services Department jobs 1-7, found in Exhibit A, need to be amended to include the new requirements in the job descriptions. Amended job descriptions are also included in Exhibit A. The certification requirements appear in bold prints; and WHEREAS, the new Public Works Service Director has determined that a different organizational structure be implemented that would improve operations by increasing efficiency, developing greater accountability, optimizing learning opportunities, and a salary savings.
