AS <br />UNDERWRITER FOR FINANCING CERTAIN PROPOSED CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENTS <br /> <br />(FIRE STATION, LIBRARY, CITY HALL PROJECTS) <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council is considering the acquisition and <br /> <br />construction of certain capital improvement projects including <br /> <br />a new Fire Station, Library, and new and remodeled City Hall <br /> <br />(collectively, the "Projects"); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, funding the Projects will require the use of one or <br /> <br />more <br /> <br />specialized financing techniques available to public <br /> <br />agencies and the issuance of evidences of indebtedness in <br /> <br />connection herewith; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City will require underwriting services to <br /> <br />market or place such evidences of indebtedness at the best <br /> <br />available interest rate and/or with the lowest associated other <br /> <br />costs of such financing; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the firm of Rauscher Pierce Refsnes, Inc., of San <br /> <br />Francisco, California, has represented that it is qualified and <br /> <br />experienced to act as an underwriter knowledgeable in the use of <br /> <br />various municipal financing techniques and in marketing or <br /> <br />placing municipal evidences of indebtedness issued or entered <br /> <br />into in connection therewith; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council desires to designate Rauscher Pierce <br /> <br />Refsnes, Inc. as underwriter for the financing of the Projects; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />10114 <br />
