ATTY/RESO.0057/ PC RESO RECOMMENDING INITIATION OF REDWOOD LIFE PROJECT <br />REV: 06-21-2023 JB <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 23-16 <br /> <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY RECOMMENDING THE CITY COUNCIL INITIATE <br />PROCEEDINGS TO CONSIDER REPEAL OF THE WESTPORT <br />SPECIFIC PLAN AND ADOPTION OF A NEW PRECISE PLAN TO <br />REPLACE THE WESTPORT SPECIFIC PLAN AS REQUESTED BY <br />THE LONGFELLOW REAL ESTATE COMPANY IN CONNECTION <br />WITH THE REDWOOD LIFE EVOLVE PROJECT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Applicant, Longfellow Real Estate Company, has applied to <br />redevelop the property located at 800-3200 Bridge Parkway with a research and <br />development (life sciences and laboratory) office campus; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Applicant seeks a new Precise Plan to replace the existing <br />Westport Specific Plan as part of the entitlements for the above properties; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 52.5 of the Redwood City Zoning Code establishes <br />procedures for initiation of Precise Plans; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Government Code Section 65453 requires that amendment or <br />repeal of a Specific Plan follow the same requirements as those set forth for amending <br />a General Plan; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 18.61 of the Redwood City Municipal Code establishes <br />procedures for initiation of amendments to the General Plan (and therefore amendment <br />or repeal of a Specific Plan such as the Westport Specific Plan) through adoption of a <br />resolution of intention. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF <br />THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. The recitals set forth above are true and correct and are hereby incorporated <br />by this reference as if fully set forth in their entirety. <br /> <br />2. The Planning Commission hereby recommends that the City Council initiate <br />proceedings to consider repeal the Westport Specific Plan and adopt a Precise Plan to <br />replace the Westport Specific Plan as part of an overall development project, as applied <br />for by Longfellow Real Estate Company. A recommendation for initiation does not <br />constitute approval of the Project, repeal of the Specific Plan, or adoption of a Precise <br />Plan, nor does it assure any particular action by the Planning Commission or City <br />Council. The Planning Commission and City Council will consider repeal of the <br />Westport Specific Plan and adoption of the Precise Plan in their discretion, along with <br />the other requested project entitlements and in accordance with the City’s project review <br />process. <br />
