RESOLUTION N0. 3288
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD
CITY CALLING UPON THE BAY AREA AIR POLLUTION CONTROL
DISTRICT TO TAKE IMMEDIATE AND EFFECTIVE STEPS TO
ALLEVIATE THE AIR POLLUTION PROBLEM EXISTING IN THE
BAY AREA, AND PARTICULARLY ON THE PENINSULA
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redwood City has re-
viewed and considered the present status of air pollution in
this the Bay Area, and has further considered the suggestion of
the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Air Pollution Control
District that enforcement of the District regulations be
imposed on local agencies; that is, Cities:
WHEREAS, this City Council is well- informed of the present
inadequacies of Air Pollution Control in the Bay Area, and
particularly in the Peninsula Area, and the urgent need that
remedial action must be taken now, and that said action be
taken by the District and not by already heavily burdened local
agencies;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Redwood City
RESOLVES as follows:
1. That the impact of smog and air pollution in the Bay
Area, and particularly in the Peninsula, is dangerous to the
well -being of the growing population in said areas, and the
problem is not being solved by the District;
2. That the problem will not be solved by thrusting the
burden on already overburdened local agencies, and these agencies
are in no position to handle the problem because of the diver-
gent responsibilities and interpretations involved;
3. That the resource of remedy and ultimate responsibility
are with the District, and if more administrative help is needed
to enforce regulations and police the problem toward effecting
an immediately adequate remedy, the District should act
accordingly, and with dispatch.
- 1 -
