MINUTE ORDER # 79 -1 OFFICE OF TI-IT CLERK, REDWOOD CITY, CALII.ORNIA DATE January 9, 1979 Attention Planning Director Building Department In the Matter of Appeal from denial by the Planning Commission - Ellis and Eilleen Leff, appellants At the meeting of the Council of the City of Redwood City on January 8, 1979 , at which were present Councilmen Bia_gl, Bury, Chandler, Lelpzjg, Wris, [fides and Mayor Barret on motion of Councilman Chandler seconded by Councilman Biagi , duly carried and entered on the minutes, it was ordered to uphold the Planning. Com- mission and deny the appeal of Ellis and Eilleen Leff of application for a use permit to allow a dwelling group of two single- family dwellings at 240 Alameda de las Pulgas based on the findings that the establishment, maintenance or operation of the use applied for would under the circum- stances of the particular case be detrimental to the health, safety, peace, morals, comfort and general welfare of persons residing in the neighborhood and would be detrimental or in- jurious to property and improvements in the neighborhood in that 1) the use would increase traffic congestion and attendant noise and air pollution, 2) that the use would be contrary to the intent of the Zoning Ordinance with respect to lot density in R -1 Districts, 3) the elimina- tion of the trees would be detrimental to the general environment in the area, and 4) that issuance of the permit would tend to encourage additional applications with respect to properties in the general area thereby thwarting the R -1 density requirements throughout the surrounding area , `t
