MINUTE ORDER <br /># 79 -1 <br />OFFICE OF TI-IT CLERK, REDWOOD CITY, CALII.ORNIA <br />DATE January 9, 1979 <br />Attention Planning Director <br />Building Department <br />In the Matter of Appeal from denial by the Planning Commission - <br />Ellis and Eilleen Leff, appellants <br />At the meeting of the Council of the City of Redwood City on <br />January 8, 1979 , at which were present <br />Councilmen Bia_gl, Bury, Chandler, Lelpzjg, Wris, [fides and <br />Mayor Barret <br />on motion of Councilman Chandler seconded by <br />Councilman Biagi <br />, duly carried and entered <br />on the minutes, it was ordered to uphold the Planning. Com- <br />mission and deny the appeal of Ellis and Eilleen <br />Leff of application for a use permit to allow a <br />dwelling group of two single- family dwellings at <br />240 Alameda de las Pulgas based on the findings <br />that the establishment, maintenance or operation <br />of the use applied for would under the circum- <br />stances of the particular case be detrimental <br />to the health, safety, peace, morals, comfort <br />and general welfare of persons residing in the <br />neighborhood and would be detrimental or in- <br />jurious to property and improvements in the <br />neighborhood in that 1) the use would increase <br />traffic congestion and attendant noise and air <br />pollution, 2) that the use would be contrary to <br />the intent of the Zoning Ordinance with respect <br />to lot density in R -1 Districts, 3) the elimina- <br />tion of the trees would be detrimental to the <br />general environment in the area, and 4) that <br />issuance of the permit would tend to encourage <br />additional applications with respect to <br />properties in the general area thereby thwarting <br />the R -1 density requirements throughout the <br />surrounding area , <br />`t <br />
