�. � , � ,: � �G. ek 1/3/66-7 <br /> • '° : <br /> � R E S O L U T I O N N O. �� <br /> RESOLUTION URGING ACTION ON OFFER OF STATE COLLEGE <br /> SITE BY LESLIE SALT COMPANY <br /> Y�FIEREAS, the pressures,on the college level educational <br /> system in the State of Cali£ornia have been becominq greater and <br /> greater to the point where it is only with extreme difficulty <br /> that the educational requirements of our college youth are <br /> being met; and <br /> WFIEREAS, the State College Board o£ the State of California <br /> has indicated the desirability of locating a State College in <br /> the area serving San Mateo County and northern Santa Clara <br /> County; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City is ideally located <br /> equidistant between San Francisco State College, serving the <br /> City and County of San Francisco, and San Jose State College, <br /> serving the Santa Clara County valley, and is also the hub of <br /> the tremendous growth being experienced by San Mateo and northern <br /> Santa Clara Counties;,and <br /> WE�REAS, the Leslie Salt Company has.offered to make avail- <br /> able a 320 acre site for State CoTlege purposes, which site is <br /> admirably located adjacent to the.Bayshore Freeway adjoining <br /> the Whipple Avenue interchange, and which site has available <br /> to it all necessary utilities as well as the advantaqes of being <br /> bordered by a waterway havinq unique recreational potential; <br /> and <br /> �REAS, the Leslie Salt Company has generously offered <br /> to make the initial 100 acres available without cost to the <br /> college; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> AS FOLLOiaTS: <br /> � <br /> �Q <br /> V <br /> � <br />
