1/2912014 <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 15314 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY SUPPORTING THE SAFE ROUTES <br /> TO SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT AND SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION FOR MEASURE A <br /> PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE PROGRAM FUNDING FOR THE SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT <br /> PROJECT <br /> RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redwood City,that <br /> WHEREAS,the City is committed to increasing the safety and the number of students walking <br /> and bicycling to school, and it has completed a Safe Routes to School Report which identified <br /> improvements to make to the city infrastructure, and <br /> WHEREAS,the City has created the Safe Routes to School Improvement Project to implement <br /> the report recommendations, and <br /> WHEREAS, it will cost$1,123,000 to implement the project scope, and <br /> WHEREAS,the City wishes to sponsor the implementation of the project scope, and <br /> WHEREAS,the City seeks$976,780 in grant funds for Safe Routes to School Improvement <br /> Project, and <br /> WHEREAS, on June 7, 1988, the voters of San Mateo County approved a ballot measure to allow <br /> the collection and distribution by the San Mateo County Transportation Authority(TA)of a half-cent <br /> transactions and use tax in San Mateo County for 25 years, with the tax revenues to be used for highway <br /> and transit improvements pursuant to the Transportation Expenditure Plan presented to the voters <br /> (Original Measure A); and <br /> WHEREAS, on November 2, 2004, the voters of San Mateo County approved the continuation of <br /> the collection and distribution by the TA the half-cent transactions and use tax for an additional 25 years <br /> to implement the 2004 Transportation Expenditure Plan beginning January 1, 2009 (New Measure A); <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS,TA issued a Call for Projects for the Measure A Pedestrian and Bicycle Program on <br /> December 9, 2013, and <br /> ATTY/RESO.2943/SAFE ROUTE RESO.#15314 <br /> REV:01-23-14 JS MUFF#505 <br /> 1 <br />
