SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION MINUTES OF THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 1992 COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Anthony, Commissioners Berglund, Lloyd, and Jordan COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Metzdorf, Sharp, and Truscelli STAFF PRESENT: Park & Recreation Superinendent Sally Hartman, Recreation Supervisor Mary Kucala, Library Supervisor Val Hamilton, Secretary Denise Monroe and Joan Ferguson GUESTS PRESENT: None Chairperson Anthony called the regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission to order at 9:10 a.m. at the Senior Center Annex, 711 Nevada Street, Redwood City, California. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the October meeting were approved as mailed. CORRESPONDENCE There was no correspondence. Chairperson Anthony mentioned the recent passing of former Senior Affairs Commissioner Cliff Miller and his contribution to seniors in Redwood City. ITEM 1 - Vital Concerns of Seniors Survey Chairperson Anthony announced the Senior Advisory Council donated $600.00 to help with the printing and distribution of 3,000 copies of the survey. The surveys will be distributed at both senior centers, churches, libraries, mobile home parks and any other facility which may serve seniors. A revised copy of the survey was given to each Commissioner for their review. Chairperson Anthony asked that the deadline to return the surveys be extended to December 30, 1992. The Commissioners reviewed the survey form and made several changes to finalize it. M/S Jordan/Lloyd: To adopt the revised survey. Motion passed. Chairperson Anthony thanked everyone for their assistance in developing the senior survey. The following items were taken out of order: ITEM 3 - Sequoia Awards Program Superintendent Hartman received a letter announcing the Second Annual Sequoia Awards to be held on February 17, 1993. The awards will be presented to the outstanding citizen, youth and company or organization. She gave out nomination forms to each Commissioner should they care to
