nominate someone. <br /> ITEM 4 - December Meeting Schedule <br /> M/S Jordan/Lloyd: To not hold the next scheduled Commission meeting on <br /> December 9 in lieu of the Boards and Commissions <br /> Dinner on December 17. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> ITEM 5 - Election of Officers for 1993 <br /> Chairperson Anthony opened the nominations for the offices of Chairperson <br /> and Vice Chairperson of the Senior Affairs Commission for the year 1993. <br /> Chairperson Anthony was nominated for the office of Chairperson and <br /> Commissioners Truscelli and Lloyd were nominated for the office of Vice <br /> Chairperson. Because Chairperson Anthony was the only person nominated as <br /> chairperson, he was unanimously selected as Chairperson of the Senior <br /> Affairs Commission for 1993. <br /> The Commissioners voted by secret ballot for the office of Vice <br /> Chaiperson. The vote was: Lloyd 3 <br /> Truscelli 1 <br /> Commissioner Lloyd was elected to the office of Vice Chairperson of the <br /> Senior Affairs Commission for 1993. <br /> ITEM 2 - Transportation <br /> Chairperson Anthony announced SamTrans will be holding three public <br /> meetings to discuss their accomplishments on ADA for this year. The <br /> meetings will be held in San Carlos, San Bruno and Half Moon Bay and more <br /> than 20,000 postcards will be mailed out announcing the meeting. In <br /> addition, SamTrans has arranged to have RSVP address 800-900 postcards to <br /> their members. <br /> Commissioner Jordan said at a regional level, MTC's ADA Task Force is <br /> currently working on an ADA survey which will be tested in San Francisco. <br /> Chairperson Anthony mentioned the pilot taxi program which is in operation <br /> in northern San Mateo County is being expanded to include the entire <br /> county. The taxis will be able to go anywhere but the rider must be <br /> pre-qualified and they will be entitled to 6-one way trips per month. <br /> ITEM 6 - Future Plans <br /> Chairperson Anthony said this item was added on the agenda to begin <br /> developing a work plan for the Commission for 1993 and will be placed on <br /> the January agenda. Commissioner Lloyd said one matter the Commissioners <br /> would be interested in hearing about was the fact that many widows of <br /> veterans do not know what benefits they are entitled to and he can make a <br /> presentation to the Commission when he receives more information. <br /> Superintendent Hartman announced that Commissioner Lloyd was recently <br /> recognized by the Times Tribune in their Volunteer Recognition Program and <br /> brought the newspaper article to share with the Commission. <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was adjourned at <br /> 10:20am to be reconvened on 9:00am on Wednesday, January 13, 1993 at the <br /> Senior Center Annex, 711 Nevada Street, Redwood City, California. <br />
