SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, APRIL 14, 1993 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Anthony, <br /> Commissioners Berglund, Jordan, <br /> Lloyd, Metzdorf and Sharp <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Truscelli <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Recreation Supervisor Mary <br /> Kucala, Library Supervisor Val <br /> Hamilton and Secretary Denise <br /> Monroe <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: City Manager Ed Everett <br /> and Executive Director Maria <br /> Bransford <br /> Chairperson Anthony called the regular meeting of the Senior Affairs <br /> Commission to order at 9:00 a.m. at the Fair Oaks Senior Center, <br /> 2600 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the March meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> There was no correspondence. <br /> ITEM 1 - Budget Report - City Manager Ed Everett <br /> City Manager Ed Everett thanked the Commission for suggesting that he make <br /> a budget presentation before the Commission. He thought it was such a <br /> great idea that he will be making the same presentation to all the other <br /> City boards and commissions to bring them up to date on the budget crisis. <br /> City Manager Everett gave the Commissioners the history behind the State's <br /> budget cuts to the City. He explained that the State takes away these <br /> amounts each year as they are reoccurring costs. <br /> Fiscal Year State Took Funds Obtained From <br /> 91-92 $1.0 million Jail fees, charge to collect property <br /> taxes, cigarette tax, traffic fines <br /> 92-93 $1.1 million Property taxes <br /> 93-94 $2.4 million Property taxes <br /> Total Cuts $5.4 million plus a 2% increase each year <br /> Mr. Everett noted that in addition to these amounts, the State also took <br /> $400,000 and $350,000 in Redevelopment funds in FY92-93 and 93-94, <br /> respectively. Finance Director Ramchandandi and City Manager Everett have <br /> projected city revenues of $34.6 million for 1994 and the State is <br />
