SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF JANUARY 12, 1994 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Anthony, Commissioners <br /> Berglund, Lloyd, Metzdorf, Sharp and <br /> Truscelli <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Jordan <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Sally Hartman, Library Supervisor Val <br /> Hamilton and Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Executive Director Maria Bransford <br /> Chairperson Anthony called the regular meeting of the Senior Affairs <br /> Commission to order at 9:05am at the Senior Center Annex, 711 Nevada <br /> Street, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the December meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> There was no correspondence. <br /> The following items were taken out of order: <br /> ITEM 3 -TRANSPORTATION <br /> Chairperson Anthony announced he is now a member of the Paratransit <br /> Coordinating Council (PCC). He explained that PCC works with SamTrans to <br /> improve their service to the disabled community. PCC also has an Advocacy <br /> Committee that researches paratransit problems brought to their attention by <br /> the public. He said that currently Mayflower is handling their transportation <br /> contract and that of another contractor and it is having a difficult situation <br /> handling both. <br /> Chairperson Anthony reviewed the ADA Paratransit Plan produced by <br /> SamTrans which notes their accomplishments during the last year and their <br /> future paratransit plans. During 1993, SamTrans was able to offer unlimited <br /> trips on a space available basis and now has taxi/lift service available. During <br /> January 1994-June 1994, SamTrans plans to offer evening and early morning <br /> service by expanding their hours from 6am-8pm; they also plan to increase <br /> the number of trips available for RediWheels riders.
