1994-June 1995, they plan to add more vans to their fleet; expand their service <br /> to San Francisco; offer travel training to their riders; plan to expand their <br /> service from 6am-12midnight, 7 days per week; they also plan to interlink <br /> with Santa Clara County Transit System; and may raise fees for RediWheels if <br /> necessary. During July 1995-June 1996, add more vans to their fleet and <br /> possibly increase fares if needed. Chairperson Anthony noted that by <br /> December 1994, SamTrans plans to add 2 additional vans to their fleet and <br /> offer Saturday service. He said that Measure A funds are being used to fund <br /> these paratransit services and that SamTrans may consider raising fares if <br /> they need additional funds for the program. <br /> Chairperson Anthony said he is interested in hearing about any complaints <br /> regarding paratransit services and will report them to the PCC for further <br /> follow-up. Superintendent Hartman asked each Senior Center to document <br /> their specific problems and report directly to Chairperson Anthony. <br /> ITEM 1 - FOLLOW UP ON '94 WORKPLAN <br /> -What to do with Survey Recommendations to Council <br /> Chairperson Anthony said that he, Superintendent Hartman and Supervisor <br /> Kucala met with City Manager Ed Everett in December regarding the <br /> recommendations the Commission made to the City Council at their Study <br /> Session. The recommendations were: <br /> 1.) Make concessions to seniors on all new fees/taxes. <br /> Chairperson Anthony explained that low income seniors cannot afford many <br /> of the fees/charges that are assessed because they do not have control over <br /> their use of certain services, such as sewer costs. The City Manager suggested <br /> General Services Director Peter Ingram come to speak to the Commission <br /> regarding Lifeline rates for sewer charges. <br /> 2.) Establish Council/Commission to define low income. <br /> Chairperson Anthony mentioned this matter has been taken care of. <br /> 3.) Develop outreach for homebound seniors. <br /> Chairperson Anthony told the City Manager the Commission would like to <br /> look into the possiblity of purchasing a bus/van to bring homebound seniors <br /> to the two senior centers. He said Mr. Everett thought this was a good idea <br /> and perhaps the City could provide the maintenance and insurance for the <br /> vehicle, but not the cost of the driver. Superintendent Hartman told the <br /> Commissioners they needed to identify the type of van/bus they wanted and <br /> suggested forming a committee to research the matter. She mentioned that <br /> Therapeutic Coordinator Erlinda Tulioc has collected information on a van <br /> and has suggested that she meet with Mary Kucala to discuss this. She also <br /> stated that the van/bus selected should not require a special driver's license to <br /> • <br />
