SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 1994 COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Anthony, Commissioners Berglund, Jordan, Lloyd, Metzdorf, Sharp and Truscelli COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None GUESTS PRESENT: Executive Director Maria Bransford STAFF PRESENT: Park and Recreation Superintendent Sally Hartman, Recreation Supervisor Mary Kucala, Therapeutic Coordinator Erlinda Tulioc, Secretary Denise Monroe The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was called to order at 9:00am by Chairperson Anthony at the Fair Oaks Senior Center, 2600 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, California. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the January meeting were approved as mailed. CORRESPONDENCE There was no correspondence. ITEM 1-FOLLOW UP ON SURVEY RECOMMENDATIONS Report from Vehicle Committee Commissioner Truscelli reported that he visited Ford and Dodge dealerships to get prices on vans for the Senior Center and found out that because the vehicle would be purchased by the City, we would be eligible for fleet rates. He said the cost for lift to be installed in a van would run $5,000-$7,500 in addition to the base cost of the van. He explained that if the vehicle holds 10 or more passengers you must have a B1 license to operate it. He felt the most practical van for the Senior Center would hold nine passengers and one driver and would not require a special license. Commissioner Truscelli said he met with Supervisor Kucala and Therapeutic Coordinator Erlinda Tulioc regarding the van and the type of accessible modifications it would require. The committee was looking at the possibility of having the van used by the seniors during the day and the Therapeutic Program during the evenings and the weekends.
