SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 1994 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Anthony, Commissioners <br /> Berglund, Jordan, Lloyd, Metzdorf, Sharp <br /> and Truscelli <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Executive Director Maria Bransford <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Park and Recreation Superintendent Sally Hartman, <br /> Recreation Supervisor Mary Kucala, Therapeutic <br /> Coordinator Erlinda Tulioc, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was called to order at <br /> 9:00am by Chairperson Anthony at the Fair Oaks Senior Center, 2600 <br /> Middlefield Road, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the January meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> There was no correspondence. <br /> ITEM 1-FOLLOW UP ON SURVEY RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> Report from Vehicle Committee <br /> Commissioner Truscelli reported that he visited Ford and Dodge dealerships <br /> to get prices on vans for the Senior Center and found out that because the <br /> vehicle would be purchased by the City, we would be eligible for fleet rates. <br /> He said the cost for lift to be installed in a van would run $5,000-$7,500 in <br /> addition to the base cost of the van. He explained that if the vehicle holds 10 <br /> or more passengers you must have a B1 license to operate it. He felt the most <br /> practical van for the Senior Center would hold nine passengers and one <br /> driver and would not require a special license. Commissioner Truscelli said <br /> he met with Supervisor Kucala and Therapeutic Coordinator Erlinda Tulioc <br /> regarding the van and the type of accessible modifications it would require. <br /> The committee was looking at the possibility of having the van used by the <br /> seniors during the day and the Therapeutic Program during the evenings and <br /> the weekends. <br />
