SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, APRIL 11, 2002 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Harrison, Commissioners <br /> Borgens, Carpe, Grove (arrived 1:15pm), <br /> Moran, L. Walsh, and M. Walsh <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Susan Houston, Ethel Robinson, Pat O'Rourke, Stephen <br /> Struthers <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Chris Beth, Manager Linda Griffith, <br /> Administrative Clerk Kathy Bede <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Jean Harrison at 1:05pm in Rooms 4, 5 and 6 of the Fair Oaks <br /> Senior Center, 2600 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, California. Condolences <br /> were extended to Commissioner Moran at the recent passing of her husband. <br /> A moment of silence was observed in his honor. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> Commissioner M. Walsh requested a correction to the March minutes, Item 2, <br /> under Transportation, second paragraph, third and fourth sentences should <br /> read: Commissioner M. Walsh also stated she contacted David Nelson of the <br /> Traffic Congestion Alliance and was advised that all grants are gone. She <br /> said that Mr. Nelson advised her that CCAG residential transportation grants <br /> are available, but the City would have to match the grant, dollar for dollar. <br /> M/S M.Walsh/Carpe: To approve the March minutes as corrected. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> No correspondence this month. <br /> ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> Pat O'Rourke inquired about taxi service provided to Redwood Shores <br /> residents and questioned whether SamTrans was raising senior fares. <br /> Stephen Struthers asked what the bus fare rate increase would be for <br /> disabled people. Commissioner Carpe will get information and contact Susan <br /> Houston with responses to both questions. <br />
