8.A. - Page 134 <br /> AGREEMENT FOR COMPENSATION <br /> TO COUNTY OF SAN MATEO FOR COLLECTION <br /> OF SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS <br /> THIS AGREEMENT, is entered into this day of , 20 by and between <br /> the COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, hereinafter called "County," and City of Redwood City <br /> WITNESSETH: <br /> WHEREAS, as a service to cities, school districts, special districts, and other taxing <br /> entities (the "Taxing Entities "), the County collects certain special assessments through the <br /> countywide property tax bill and, in exchange for collecting such special assessments, the <br /> County is compensated pursuant to agreements with each of the affected Taxing Entities. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY AGREED BY THE PARTIES HERETO AS FOLLOWS: <br /> 1. Term, Renewal, and Termination <br /> This Agreement shall be in full force and effect for the billing and collection of special <br /> assessments by the County for and on behalf of the City of Redwood City for a period of one (1) <br /> year commencing July 1, 2014, for the FY 2014/15. <br /> This Agreement shall automatically renew containing the same terms and conditions for Fiscal <br /> Year 2015/16 and each subsequent fiscal year thereafter unless either party notifies the other <br /> party in writing at least ninety (90) days prior to the close of the fiscal year of its intention not to <br /> renew. The Downtown Redwood City Community Benefits Improvement District ( "CBID") has <br /> a 15 year life, set to commence FY 2014/15 and set to expire at the conclusion of FY 2028/29 or <br /> on June 30, 2029. <br /> 2. Determination of Special Assessments <br /> No later than August 1st of each fiscal year that this Agreement remains in effect, the City of <br /> Redwood City shall provide, in electronic format (diskette, CD, magnetic tape, or electronic <br /> mail), a complete list of its special assessments that are to be included in the County's annual tax <br /> billing to the County of San Mateo's Controller's Office. <br /> 3. Inclusion of Special Assessments; Collection and Remittance <br /> In consideration for the payments set forth herein, the County shall include the special <br /> assessments levied by the City of Redwood City as part of the County's annual tax roll and tax <br /> bill. The County shall collect amounts based upon the City of Redwood City's list of special <br /> assessments, as referenced in Section 2 above, for the City of Redwood City and shall remit the <br /> same to the City of Redwood City at the same time and in the same manner as provided for other <br /> public agencies for whom the County acts as a collecting agent. <br /> ATTY /AGR/2014.136/CBI D <br /> REV: 07 -23 -14 PT <br /> Page1of 4 <br />
