Carol's diverse educational experiences have provided her with a clear vision of the qualities that every aspect of Cambridge Academy will embody. She will take the best from every country and school in which she has worked and incorporate them all into taking Cambridge Academy to an outstanding level that will allow students to thrive and that parents will enthusiastically embrace. Shortly after moving to the Bay Area in 2001, Carol started a highly successful career at a then newly established private school. Over the next 10 years Carol moved through several key roles (preschool teacher, kindergarten teacher, first grade teacher, preschool and elementary principal, and head of curriculum and training) contributing to its growth from 3 to 15 campuses. Carol has been principal at both the preschool and elementary levels and has managed enrollments of up to 500 students and in excess of 30 staff members. For the last few years with her most recent employer, Carol was a member of the senior management team and headed the curriculum and training department for 15 campuses and approximately 400 staff members (preschool - 8 grade). In addition to her extensive education experience and expertise, Carol is hardworking, highly driven, and results focused. She absolutely loves being involved in education, and there is no doubt that with Carol at the helm and intricately involved in the day -to -day operations, our elementary school will be a complete success and significantly contribute towards the well being of the neighborhood and local communities. Nicholas Berg is an entrepreneur both as a computer expert and management consultant and has a wealth of management and business experience both running and owning his own IT consulting companies. Nicholas has held senior management positions at several leading global corporations and government organizations including The World Bank, Atkins Engineering, Dunn and Bradstreet's Dataquest, Gartner Research, and Seagate Technology. Nicholas brings his extensive business and computer acumen to Cambridge Academy assisting with start up, financial and business planning, and will act as a management consultant for the school's general business and financial operations. Nicholas will also assist with the school's technology curriculum development and work with local IT companies to bring presentations, workshops, and other exciting high tech engagements to help spark students' interest in this exciting field and foster students' enthusiasm for computers and high tech engineering. VISION Our school will offer first -rate education to students from transitional kindergarten to fifth grade between the hours of 7:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and afterschool care from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. We hope to start the first full school year with approximately 60 students situated in four classrooms in August 2013. In year two, we plan to open two additional classrooms, one transitional kindergarten and one grade 2 class, and conservatively estimate increasing enrollment by approximately one class of 20 students for each subsequent year, bringing Cambridge Academy to its full capacity of approximately 180 students in our sixth year of operation in 2018. The school's mission is to provide a rich and balanced educational experience to students by carefully selecting the finest curriculum and resources, implementing a balanced schedule, and hiring excellent teachers who make lessons come alive by using creative and innovative teaching methods to engage students.
