Hector Flamenco, a business owner and a father of finro college students, said he would <br /> like to see his kids acquire housing here and he supports of the project. He noted that <br /> many young people are taking public transportation nowadays. <br /> Bob Lutticken expressed his thanks and respect to and for the Council and opined that <br /> this project will be positive for the community. He spoke in favor of moving forward with <br /> this project without delay. <br /> Keith Bautista, a 43-year resident and retired partner with DES Architects, said they <br /> handled lawsuits against his company and in reviewing this appeal, opined that it has no <br /> merit and is frivolous. He said this appeal has wasted City staff time and the Council's <br /> valuable time. <br /> Olivia Martinez said she moved to this city in 1952 and spoke positively about the city <br /> as a unique place and its prior and current leadership. She spoke in favor of the project <br /> because it would allow access to the coastline and be of economic benefit to the <br /> schools. She asked Council to deny the appeal. <br /> Anthony Gibbs urged Council to deny the appeal. He said this has been a long and <br /> arduous road and believes it is time to approve the project and to move forward. <br /> Angie Papangellin opined that this is her opportunity to move back to Redwood City and <br /> spoke in favor of denying the appeal and having the project move forward. <br /> Michele Gibson is here as a property owner and is a Planner from a neighboring city <br /> and she complimented staff on a well-written report. She spoke in support of denying <br /> the appeal and approving the project. <br /> Don Gibson spoke in support of what he called a well thought out project and denying <br /> the appeal. <br /> Joe Svitek opined that the concerns of large and small boaters in terms of the launch of <br /> the hand held boats were not adequately addressed earlier. He does not believe there <br /> will be enough parking because people are still very dependent on cars that and there <br /> should be more automobile access areas. <br /> Bob Bedbury spoke in support of denying the appeal and allowing the project to move <br /> forward. He opined that this is about property rights and there have been unnecessary <br /> delays and loss of tax revenue. <br /> Tim Keidler said there is a lot of access to the bay which is good for the community and <br /> this project provides a variety of needed housing levels and revenue for schools and the <br /> City. He spoke in support of the project and hopes this can move forward. <br /> Bill Warhurst, representing Pete's Enterprises Inc., spoke about the legal issues with the <br /> legal challenge and said that the San Francisco judge cannot tell the State of California <br /> what structure to put on its land and that it was the state's decision to remove all the <br /> CITY COUNCIL March 24, 2014 <br /> MEETING MINUTES PAGE 8 <br /> MINUTE BOOK NO. 65 <br /> Page No. 110 <br />
