The following discussion describes the existing land uses in the <br /> jurisdictions surrounding San Carlos Airport and the land use plans that are guiding future <br /> development within the airport's influence area. <br /> As described previously, San Carlos Airport is located in the greater San Francisco Bay Area, <br /> approximately 24 miles south of the City of San Francisco and 25 miles north of the City of San <br /> Jose. The Airport is located immediately east of Highway 101 and is primarily accessed via <br /> Redwood Shores Parkway and Airport Drive. In addition to the City of San Carlos,the Airport is <br /> also located in the vicinity of several other jurisdictions, including Redwood City,the City of <br /> Belmont,Foster City,the City of San Mateo, and portions of unincorporated San Mateo County. <br /> 2.5.1 City of San Carlos <br /> The City of San Carlos is approximately 5.2 square miles(sq. mi.)in size, and is located halfway <br /> between the cities of San Francisco and San Jose.
