Biosafety Level 1 does not involve <br /> hazardous materials and is not subject to the same restrictions as Biosafety Levels 2, 3, and <br /> 4. Biosafety Level 2 facilities are not permitted in Safety Zones 1,2, and 5. Biosafety Level <br /> 3 and 4 facilities are not permitted in Safety Zones 1 through 5. Definitions of Biosafety <br /> Level 2, 3, and 4 as derived from Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical <br /> Laboratoriesl°are provided below. <br /> 1! Biosafety Level 2 practices, equipment, and facility design and construction are <br /> applicable to clinical, diagnostic,teaching, and other laboratories in which work is <br /> done with the broad spectrum of indigenous moderate-risk agents that are present <br /> in the community and associated with human disease of varying severity. <br /> 2f Biosafety Level 3 practices, safety equipment, and facility design and construction <br /> are applicable to clinical, diagnostic,teaching,research, or production facilities in <br /> which work is done with indigenous or exotic agents with a potential for <br /> respiratory transmission, and which may cause serious and potentially lethal <br /> infection. <br /> 3.f Biosafety Level 4 practices, safety equipment, and facility design and construction <br /> are applicable for work with dangerous and exotic agents that pose a high <br /> individual risk or life-threatening disease,which may be transmitted via the aerosol <br /> route and for which there is no available vaccine or therapy. <br /> Safety Compatibility Policy 10- Project Sites Lying Partially within a Safety <br /> Zone or within Two or More Safety Zones <br /> For the purposes of evaluating consistency with the compatibility criteria set forth in Table 3-4, <br /> any parcel that is split by compatibility zone boundaries shall be considered as if it were multiple <br /> parcels divided at the compatibility zone boundary line. Guidelines regarding the clustering of <br /> residential and nonresidential development shall apply(See Safety Compatibility Policy 6). <br /> Safety Compatibility Policy 11— Special Provisions for Safety Zone 1 <br /> In accordance with FAA Advisory Circular 150/5300-13A,Airport Design,the basic <br /> compatibility criteria for Safety Zone 1 (the runway protection zone), as listed in Table 3-4, <br /> preclude most uses,including any new structures and uses having an assemblage of people. <br /> of The presumption is that the airport proprietor(San Mateo County)owns or intends to <br /> acquire property interests—fee title or easements—sufficient to effectuate this policy.
