end of each workday according to procedures established by the Department Head. <br /> 17.2.3 Shoes/boots provided by the City shall be used by workers only for City work. Workers are <br /> responsible for replacing shoes/boots which are lost or which are damaged due to the worker's <br /> negligence. <br /> ARTICLE 18 - HOLIDAYS <br /> 18.1 Recognized Holidays <br /> Regular, full-time workers will receive eight (8) hours holiday pay per recognized holiday. Recognized <br /> holidays are as follows: <br /> New Year's Day <br /> Martin Luther King Jr. Day(observed on the third Monday in January) <br /> Presidents' Day(observed on the third Monday in February) <br /> Memorial Day(observed on the last Monday in May) <br /> Independence Day <br /> Labor Day(observed on the first Monday in September) <br /> Veterans Day(observed November 11) <br /> Thanksgiving Day <br /> The Day After Thanksgiving <br /> Christmas Eve <br /> Christmas Day <br /> New Year's Eve <br /> Two administrative holidays and such other days as may be proclaimed local holidays. Administrative <br /> holidays may only be taken in eight(8) hour increments. At the option of the worker, a worker may receive <br /> pay at the worker's straight-time rate of pay in lieu of one or both of the administrative holidays at eight(8) <br /> hours per administrative holiday. In the event that one or both of the administrative holidays are not used by <br /> the last pay period paid in the year(based on the preceding 26 pay periods), payment will be made no later <br /> than the first pay period in February. <br /> 18.2 Weekend Holidays <br /> When any of the above holidays falls on Sunday, the following Monday shall be considered the holiday. <br /> When any of the above holidays falls on Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be considered the holiday. <br /> 18.3 Work on a Holiday <br /> Any worker who is required to work on any of the holidays, specified in Article 18.1.1 above shall, in addition <br /> to regular pay for such holiday, be paid one and one-half(1-1/2) times his/her established rate of pay for all <br /> hours actually worked on such holiday. <br /> 18.4 Holiday During Vacation <br /> In the event any of the holidays specified in Article 18.1.1 above occurs while a worker is on vacation or sick <br /> leave, the holiday shall not be charged as vacation or sick leave. <br /> 28 <br />
