PROPOSITION B: Shall Sections 3-1/2 and 48a of the <br /> Charter of the City of Redwood City be <br /> amended to enable the Port of Redwood City to approve <br /> leases by ordinance following public hearing thereon? <br /> SECTION 5 . (a) The Council of Redwood City hereby proposes, <br /> on its own motion, to amend the Charter of the City of Redwood City <br /> by amending Section 8 thereof to read as follows: <br /> "SECTION 8. ELIGIBILITY OF ELECTIVE OFFICERS. <br /> "No person shall be eligible for election to, or hold <br /> any elective office of said city unless he such person <br /> shall have been a resident and elector thereof for at <br /> least three-years 30 days next preceding his-eleetien-therete <br /> the time of filing nominating papers or equivalent declaration <br /> of candidacy for such office, or his such person' s appointment <br /> to fill a vacancy therein. " _ _ <br /> (b) Said Charter amendment proposal shall be submitted to the <br /> electors of the City of Redwood City at the General Municipal Election <br /> to be held in the City on April 11, 1978 , in the form of a proposal <br /> to amend said Charter by amending Section 8 thereof. On the ballots <br /> and on the voting machines to be used at said election, in addition <br /> to all other matters required by law to be printed thereon, shall <br /> appear the following: <br /> PROPOSITION C: Shall Section 8 of the Charter of the <br /> City of Redwood City be amended to reduce <br /> the residence requirement of candidates for elective city <br /> office to conform to constitutional limitations? <br /> SECTION 6 . (a) The Council of Redwood City hereby proposes, <br /> on its own motion, to amend the Charter of the City of Redwood City <br /> by amending Section 9 thereof to read as follows: <br /> "SECTION 9 . THE COUNCIL: <br /> "The Council shall be comprised of seven councelmen members, <br /> including the Mayor, and shall be the legislative body of the <br /> city, each of the members of which, including the Mayor, shall <br /> have the right to vote upon all questions before it. <br /> "Councilmen members shall be elected at each general municipal <br /> election and shall hold office for the term of four years from <br /> and after the Monday next succeeding the day of such election <br /> and until their successors are elected and qualified. The <br /> councilmen members in office at the time of this charter taking <br /> effect shall continue in office until the end of the terms <br /> for which they were respectively elected. <br /> -7- <br />
