<br />School # K-5 Students <br />Hawes 432 <br />Selby Lane 456 <br />Henry Ford 450 <br />Garfield 458 <br /> <br />Goal 2: Staff Recruitment: City will maintain a PE Coordinator to manage City’s part of <br />the PE Plus program. It is anticipated that PCC will maintain a Program Coordinator, to <br />oversee and manage its program and PE Coaches. City will recruit for its program up to <br />twelve PE coaches, and conduct all hiring processes of staff including background and <br />safety checks, as further described herein. <br />Goal 3: Staff Training: City will arrange training for coaches employed by City. The <br />year-round training of coaches would take place during a mandatory Back to School <br />training session and subsequent biweekly training sessions. City and PCC coaching <br />staff will be trained under the umbrella of the “Physical Education Team”. All staff will be <br />trained with the objective to reinforce to students the joy of being active and healthy, <br />while delivering an exceptional physical education program that meets the California <br />State requirements for PE. Coaches may be pulled from recess support if necessary to <br />attend training 1 hour per week. Training sessions will focus on four different areas <br />(community & leadership development, teaching methods, program curriculum and <br />nutrition education). <br />Goal 4: PE Curriculum Development and Implementation: The PE Plus program for <br />RCSD schools will be designed to ensure that the social, emotional, physical, and <br />learning needs of the students are being met during their time in PE. The program will <br />provide students with the knowledge, attitudes, motor skills, behavioral skills, and <br />confidence to participate in physical activity, and aims to establish active lifestyles among <br />students that continue into and throughout their adult lives. Physical activity is promoted <br />by providing a physical and social environment that enables safe and enjoyable <br />participation in physical activity through a planned and developmentally appropriate <br />physical education and nutrition education curricula, and by instruction that meets the <br />PE standards from kindergarten through 5th grade. <br />Goal 5: Program Evaluation: SHCD Program PE Plus Program Manager will consult <br />with staff from Applied Systems Research (ASR) for analysis and further development of <br />evaluation plan and assessment tools. All partners will work together to implement <br />assessments, surveys, data collection, and data entry. Quantitative and qualitative data <br />will be used to measure program quality, outcomes, and impact. Information and best <br />practices will be shared with stakeholders and used to make necessary program <br />modifications and to cultivate and expand the program. <br />7.1.A. - Page 2
