She said <br />there is so much good happening and she is excited about this new reality. Vice Mayor <br />Foust reiterated that this is a committed Council that cares and does not make <br />decisions on the fly. <br /> <br />Mayor Gee thanked Dr. Bell for his leadership in getting things done and added that <br />there is a lot more details, blood, sweat and tears and he values how much has been <br />accomplished this year. He reiterated that Redwood City gets things done on behalf of <br />our residents and that does not always happen in the neighboring cities. He said that <br />the City Manager and his team need to be commended. <br /> <br />10. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> <br /> A. City Council Member Reports of Conferences Attended <br /> <br />Diane Howard reported on a Cool Cities presentation at the League of CA Cities <br />conference she attended and she was pleased to hear about other cities and what they <br />are doing. Council Member Pierce gave credit to the Fire Department for having a staff <br />presenting at the League of CA Cities Conference on an interesting topic. Council <br />Member Aguirre said that she attended a session related to Youth Incarceration and <br />she valued it. She announced that next Tuesday the Fiestas Patrias event will take <br />place. <br /> <br />Mayor Gee announced that Council Member Aguirre is now the President of the Latino <br />Caucus. He also reported that he went to Ciudad Guzman with a delegation and he <br />would like to report back at the October 6, 2014 meeting. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Foust mentioned that Council Member Pierce provided a session at the <br />League of CA Cities. She also added that she is part of the Stanford Boot Camp, and <br />she is participating as an individual separate from her role as elected official, and she <br />has been impressed with the caliber of the curriculum. <br /> <br /> B. City Council Committee Reports <br /> <br /> C. City Manager (Oral) Update <br /> <br />Dr. Bell did not have any further updates. <br /> <br /> D. City Attorney Report from Closed Session <br /> <br />There were no updates. <br /> <br />11.
