��aGINAL <br /> Healthy <br /> Schools <br /> Initiative <br /> Sequaia HeakRCaro Distrrd <br /> Sequoia Healthcare District <br /> MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING <br /> Addendum to original agreement FY 201415(Year 3) <br /> I. Parties <br /> The City of Redwood City,charter city and Municipal Corporation of the State of Califomia,("CITY")will participate in <br /> this Memorandum of Understanding(MOU)with Sequoia Healthcare District, a govemmental entity in Redwood City, <br /> Califomia, ("SHD"). <br /> II. Intent <br /> A critical need exists for consistent physical education and physical activity opportunities for students during the <br /> school day. By increasing physical activity during the school day,along with positive and consistent health <br /> messages, it is anticipated that students will have greater physical fitness, improved self-esteem, lower levels of <br /> anxiety and stress, an increased sense of wellbeing, and improved academic achievement. SHD wishes to provide <br /> funding for CITY to provide a program to the Redwood City School District("RCSD")to assure that children in the <br /> RCSD have access to physical education opportunities and the benefits attendant thereto. It is intended that the <br /> CITY program curriculum will follow the PE+Program. <br /> In setting forth the goals and mutual objectives of the parties to this Agreement, SHD and CITY recognize that RCSD <br /> is not a party to this Agreement and that the CITY's program funded by SHD cannot be carried out absent RCSD's <br /> cooperation and implementation of the program. RCSD is not a party to this Agreement and in order to effectuate this <br /> Agreement, RCSD would need to agree to the continued delivery of this program and this agreement with CITY. <br /> III.Term of Agreement;Termination of Agreement <br /> A. The term of this Agreement commences July 1, 2012 and ends on June 30, 2015 unless terminated as <br /> set forth below. <br /> B. Termination <br /> 1. SHD. SHD intends to fund three annual grants(annual amounts may vary)to CITY beginning July 1, <br /> 2012 and ending June 30,2015. SHD may reduce or eliminate the intended funding if a) SHD's <br /> Directors decline to collect property taxes for any of the three years in the funding cycle,(b)a significant <br /> portion of SHD's property tax revenues are borrowed or otherwise taken by the State of Califomia, (c) <br /> SHD's Directors discontinue the allocation of funding to the Healthy Schools Initiative Program,or(d) <br /> CITY fails to fund positions or programming described in this MOU or fails to substantially comply with <br /> its obligations under this MOU. <br /> Memorandum of Understanding <br /> Sequoia Healthcare District/Redwood City Parks,Recreation,and Community Services <br /> Healthy Schools Initiative 2014-2015 <br /> 1 <br />
