RECREATION DIVISION MONTHLY REPORT JANUARY 1977 CENTER OPERATIONS & SPECIAL INTERESTS Registration for all winter special interest classes began January 3 , with many classes filling . So far the only classes cancelled were weaving and jewelry making . Seventeen Redwood City employees , volunteers and spouses attended the California Park and Recreation Society District IV Awards and Instal - lation Night at the Royal Coach on January 15 . The teen volunteers from the Red Morton Center received a citation award for their out - standing work on the mural project as well as the additional hours of volunteer time contributed . The Recreation Staff is working the Sequoia High School again in develop- ing a career education program for Latino students . The program will begin in March . Red Morton Center Noon-Time Activities - Hoover Hoover is doing very well with their noon - time program . Room 602 is always filled with students involved in carroms , chess , or darts . The students really enjoy having a place of their own for programs and music . The student council is now becoming active and the big event this month was the karate demonstration . McKinley Students have been involved with scavenger hunts , soccer games and co -ed dancing . Student council has been active in designing programs for their students . The disco dancing class went over well and most of the parti - cipants were boys . Kennedy This month , a structured disco dance class was offered . Over 100 teens signed up . Classes are set up monthly with 25 in a class . Interest and participation is very good . Junior High Dance Steve Rood from KFRC put on a record dance January 21 . Around 200 stu - dents enjoyed the music plus the open game rooms . Parents felt the dance was well supervised . - 10-
