PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT <br /> DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT <br /> FEBRUARY 1977 <br /> Redwood Shores Park Development <br /> The grading for the construction of Dolphin Parks I , II , and III and <br /> for the first phase of Marlin II is now complete . The installation <br /> of the irrigation system is underway and will proceed to completion . <br /> It should be noted that the City Council , upon recommendation of the <br /> staff , agreed to defer any planting of the park areas resultant from <br /> the drought situation . The balance of the construction elements for <br /> the parks , however , will be completed . In that dust may become a prob- <br /> lem resultant from no planting , the irrigation system can be used on <br /> occasion in an attempt to control the dust situation . <br /> The tennis courts have been constructed and are now awaiting the final <br /> finish surfacing of the courts as well as the fencing . The construc - <br /> tion of the play apparatus area is underway , together with the access <br /> walks . <br /> Mezes Park <br /> There has been a delay in the completion of the Mezes Park restrooms <br /> and picnic facilities resultant from the City ' s refusal to accept some <br /> of the workmanship involved with these items . Additionally , the turf <br /> area has not reached an acceptable quality as yet , and has not been <br /> accepted . Several meetings have been held with the contractor and <br /> his representative in order to expedite the completion of the work . <br /> The contractor is in the process of removing the picnic tables and <br /> benches so that they can be reconstructed in a satisfactory manner . <br /> Every effort is being made to expedite this work in anticipation of <br /> the project being brought to acceptable quality . <br /> The construction drawings for the parking area to be constructed in <br /> the vicinity of the Red Morton Recreation Center are nearly complete . <br /> This project is being handled by the Public Works Department and cur- <br /> rent schedules indicate that the project will be ready for final appro - <br /> val by the end of March . <br /> Canyon Park <br /> The construction drawings for the first phase development of Canyon <br /> Park are approximately 80% complete . The first phase of this develop- <br /> ment will include the grading , irrigation installation , play apparatus <br /> - 14- <br />
