RECREATION DIVISION MONTHLY REPORT <br /> MARCH 1977 <br /> CENTER OPERATIONS & SPECIAL INTEREST CLASSES <br /> The 14th Annual Peninsula Hills Junior Women ' s Club Antique Show was held <br /> on March 18 , 19 and 20 at the Community Activities Building . The show <br /> was a success , as usual , and drew a good crowd . The Department received <br /> $500 which will be used to provide scholarships for children to partici - <br /> pate in summer recreation programs . <br /> The GUIDE program for Latino students from Sequoia began March 17 , with <br /> an orientation and speaker from the Labor Department in Oakland . The <br /> March 23 session was on interviewing and filling out applications . <br /> Approximately 50 students attended instead of the anticipated 30 . On <br /> March 31 , the group was given a tour of the Municipal Services Center <br /> including the auto shop , the park nursery , equipment and the Water <br /> Department . The students seem enthusiastic and interested in the pro- <br /> gram . Five more sessions are planned to include the Sheriff ' s Depart - <br /> ment , the San Francisco Airport , Wells Fargo Bank , the Fair Oaks Com- <br /> munity Center library and College of San Mateo . <br /> The Friends of the Library Book Sale is scheduled for April 1 , 2 & 3 <br /> at the Veterans Memorial Building . <br /> Redwood City Community Theater produced the play " Damn Yankees " during <br /> March at the Veterans Building . <br /> Winter special interest classes ended in March and sign ups for spring <br /> classes began March 28 . <br /> Red Morton Center <br /> Noon-Time Programs ( Junior High ) <br /> Hoover - Big event this month was a St . Patricks Record Dance . <br /> Refreshments were provided by parents and students with over <br /> 150 students attending . " Slave Day " , a special event at the <br /> school , was a great success . <br /> McKinley- This has been one of the better months with both <br /> the student council and administration involved in the plan - <br /> ning process . Scheduled programs were carried out and par- <br /> ticipation and cooperation was excellent . <br /> -8 - <br />
