RECREATION DIVISION MONTHLY REPORT <br /> JUNE 1977 <br /> COMMUNITY LEISURE SERVICES <br /> Summer Playgrounds <br /> A total of 34 Recreation Leaders have been hired , trained and assigned <br /> to various playground and camping programs in the Leisure Services Sec - <br /> tion . <br /> Ten playground sites opened on Monday , June 27th with all programs going <br /> well so far . We anticipate serving approximately 8 , 000 participants on <br /> a drop- in basis throughout the summer . <br /> We have expanded our Tiny Tot Program to include four mornings weekly . <br /> Day Camp <br /> Day Camp opened on June 27th with a full group of 55 attending Tiny Tim- <br /> bers Camp . The July 4th week for this camp is going slowly with the camp <br /> anticipated to be about half full . <br /> We are again planning to work with the 4-H Club members and have approached <br /> the Coyote Point Museum for animal rentals . <br /> The eight camp staff members are enthusiastic and have great plans for <br /> scavenger hunts , gold panning , nature lore and fun-filled sessions for <br /> all of the campers . <br /> Wilderness Camp <br /> We are again working through the Summer Schools for the first five weeks <br /> of Wilderness Camp . The Camp opened on June 20th with an anticipated <br /> attendance of 55 per week . Sessions so far have been : <br /> Session #1 - McKinley 28 participants <br /> Session #2 - Kennedy 28 participants <br /> Session #3 - Four Elementary 44 currently signed up <br /> Schools <br /> The camp staff is doing an excellent job and several members have circu - <br /> lated around the schools to help the School District publicize their ses - <br /> sions . <br /> -8- <br />
