PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF JULY 13 , 1977 <br /> The regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission was called to <br /> order by Chairman Schlesinger at 7 : 31 p , m . , in Conference Room 1 of <br /> the Community Activities Building , 1400 Roosevelt Avenue , Redwood City . <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT : Commissioners Anderson , Hayes , Knecht , Schlesinger <br /> MEMBERS ABSENT : Commissioners Buckhout , Pound , Weintraub <br /> ( Commissioner Buckhout arrived at 7 : 36 p . m . ) <br /> STAFF PRESENT : Max C . Weeks , Parks & Recreation Director <br /> Bill Paulson , Recreation Superintendent <br /> Anu Raud , Planning Department <br /> MOTION : Commissioner Anderson moved to accept the minutes <br /> of the June 8 , 1977 Regular Business Meeting , <br /> seconded by Commissioner Knecht . The motion <br /> carried unanimously by voice vote . <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> Mr . Weeks distributed to the Commissioners a flyer announcing the Bay <br /> Area Parks and Recreation Commissioners Council Quarterly Dinner Meet - <br /> ing on Thursday , July 28 , at the Veterans Park in Livermore . The Com- <br /> missioners were informed to notify Mr . Weeks if they plan to attend this <br /> meeting . <br /> ( COMMISSIONER BUCKHOUT ARRIVED AT 7 : 36 P . M . ) <br /> AGENDA ITEM 1 . Review Draft of Human Services Element - General Plan <br /> The Commission , with the help of Ms . Anu Raud of the Planning Depart- <br /> ment staff , reviewed the Draft of the Human Services Element of the <br /> General Plan . <br /> Mr . Weeks reviewed the background data that was collected by the Plan - <br /> ning Department in the preparation of the report . He pointed out that <br /> the City ' s role with regard to this element is primarily one of a <br /> " broker " and secondarily that of an " advocate " ; the City apparently <br /> does not wish to assume responsibility , but rather recognize the issues <br /> and help with the leadership of solving problems . <br /> - 1 - <br />
