PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT <br /> DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT <br /> AUGUST 1977 <br /> Mezes Park <br /> The adjustments and corrections that were to be made in the sprinkler system <br /> for the park have now been completed . There still remains a drainage problem <br /> with the restroom floors and efforts are currently underway by the Public Works <br /> Department to secur bids for the correction of this problem . The project <br /> engineer will withhold sufficient funds from the final payment on the project <br /> to correct the drainage problem without any further cost to the City . <br /> Redwood Shores <br /> Construction work is again underway for the park areas at Redwood Shores . <br /> The irrigation system is being completed , trenches backfilled and rough <br /> grading completed . Work will proceed with the play area as well as with the <br /> tennis courts and access walks as rapidly as possible . <br /> Red Morton Park and Canyon Park <br /> The applications for the State funds from the State Park Bond Act of 1974 and <br /> 1976 were prepared for Red Morton Park and Canyon Park and were submitted to <br /> the City Council for approval together with the proposed plan of expenditure <br /> for the 1977-78 Capital Improvements Program . The City Council at their meet- <br /> ing of August 22 , 1977 , approved the applications and the expenditure plan . <br /> The applications together with supporting data will now be submitted to the <br /> State Department of Parks & Recreation for review and approval . The deadline <br /> for their receipt of the applications is September 15 , 1977 . If approved , <br /> funds will be made available in July of 1978 for these projects . <br /> Fleishman Park and Spinas Park <br /> The City Council also approved the proposal to apply for State Grant funds <br /> for the initial improvement of Fleishman Park and Spinas Park . These funds <br /> would be supplied through the provisions of the Needs Grant Program of SB- 174 . <br /> These applications are currently being prepared and will be forwarded to the <br /> City Council for their approval at their meeting of September 12 , 1977 . The <br /> deadline for these applications to be received by the State Department of Parks <br /> and Recreation is October 1 , 1977 . <br /> -8- <br />
