COMMITTEE SCHEDULING .
Mr . Weeks indicated he would like to meet with the Open Space Committee
for a meeting on revisions of the General Plan . He indicated that he
would call the members to establish a time . Chairman Schlesinger com-
mented that since this was such an undertaking , couldn ' t the Commission
work on this plan together as a whole . Mr . Weeks replied that the Com-
mittee would report to the Commission periodically , but felt that the
Committee should lay the ground work for Commission discussion . It was
decided to discuss the matter more fully at the next Commission meeting .
ROUND TABLE
Chairman Schlesinger inquired what the status was on the Senior Citizen
Center . Mr . Weeks replied that everything is pending the results of
the discussions with the State National Guard representative .
Commissioner Weintraub commented that during the Design & Development
Committee meeting , Mr . Paulson had mentioned that the Police Youth
Club was considering expanding the building . Mr . Weeks explained that
the Club did have a master plan set up for the possible expansion , but
that nothing has been decided as of yet . Discussion continued as to
whether or not the City had the authority to control the expansion .
It was brought to the attention of the Commission that the Police Youth
Club is leasing the land from the City and , therefore , undoubtedly
the City would be working closely with the PYC if expansion becomes a
reality .
Commissioner Knecht inquired about the Opera Lunch Program and if we
would have any other ones in the near future . Mr . Weeks indicated
that the Civic Cultural Commission will be discussing the possibility
of continuing the program in the spring . Mr . Paulson indicated he
has obtained several military bands to perform in the parks as well
as downtown during the upcoming months .
Mr . Weeks suggested to the members of the Community Relations Committee
that they contact past Commissioners in order to communicate to them
the progress made in the parks and what they hope to accomplish in the
near future . After considerable discussion , it was the consensus of
the Commission that this item be discussed in more detail during
their meetings over the next few months .
Mr . Paulson announced that on November 10 , there will be a testimonial
dinner for Pasco Balzarini at the Elks Club in Redwood City .
He further indicated that the program coordinator for Hoover School
has been hired through CETA and will start at Hoover School near the
end of October . It was a possibility that the program coordinator
would make a presentation of what he has accomplished at a future
Commission meeting .
-4 -
