TO : Parks & Recreation Commission FROM : Design & Development Committee , Chairman Weintraub DATE : December 7 , 1977 SUBJECT : REVIEW OF DESIGN FOR PALM AND CANYON PARKS The Design & Development Committee met on December 7 , 1977 . Those present were Commissioners Weintraub and Knecht . There is currently a vacancy on this Committee resultant from the resignation of Commis - sioner Buckhout from the Commission . The status of the funding for these projects through the State Grants was reviewed with the Committee . It was pointed out that the appli- cation for State funds for Canyon Park was still under consideration by the State and if approved , would not be available until July of 1978 . The Palm Park application has been approved and the request for the 90% advancement of the funds for construction purposes has been forwarded to the State Department of Parks & Recreation . In that the construction drawings and specifications for Palm Park and the first phase of Canyon Park were completed several months ago and are now being reviewed for construction purposes , the Committee was brought up to date on the status of the plans and specifications and a review was made of the details of this work . Aside from a few minor changes , the Committee felt that the plans and specifications were in good order . It was pointed out that upon receipt of the Palm Park funds , probably in January of 1978 , that project would be immedi - ately put out to bid . The bidding documents for the Canyon Park pro- ject will be completed and held in abeyance until the funds are received in July of 1978 . At this time , bids will be immediately called for if the drought situation will allow . - 2-
