Redwood City is located on the San Francisco Peninsula. The Peninsula is <br /> traversed by three large faults of the San Andreas Fault System: San Andreas, the Pilarcitos, and the San <br /> Gregorio faults. The City is located 2,000 feet east of the San Andreas fault in the San Francisco Block <br /> (block). Although mapping completed under the Alquist - Priolo Earthquake Fault Zoning Act indicates that <br /> no active earthquake fault zones are located in the city, several major regional active fault zones are of <br /> concern.
