8.A. - Page 104 <br /> Section 4: Evaluation of Environmental Impacts <br /> f) Less than Significant Impact. The Corinda Los Trancos Landfill is the primary destinations for solid waste <br /> collected in Redwood City. The current capacity for the Corinda Los Trancos Landfill is approximately 3,598 <br /> tons per day of solid waste. The Corinda Los Trancos Landfill anticipates reaching maximum capacity in 2018. <br /> Other landfills are also available to serve the City like the Potrero Hills Landfill. The Potrero Hills Landfill has <br /> a permitted daily capacity of 4,330 tons per day and a remaining capacity of 13,872,000 cubic yards. The <br /> Potrero Hills Landfill is estimated to close in 2048. Compliance with City General Plan policies and County <br /> waste reduction programs and policies will reduce the volume of solid waste entering landfills. Individual <br /> development projects within the City will be required to comply with applicable State and local regulations, <br /> thus reducing the amount of landfill waste by at least 50 percent. Future development will increase the volume <br /> of solid waste generated in the City that is diverted to existing landfills, thus contributing to the acceleration of <br /> landfill closures or the use of more distant sites. However, no revisions associated with the proposed Housing <br /> Element will affect the development assumptions and related impact conclusions as determined by the <br /> General Plan EIR. Impacts related to sufficient landfill capacity are anticipated to be less than significant. <br /> g) No Impact. Waste collection in Redwood City is disposed of in regional landfills, as described above. All <br /> new development will be required to comply with State mandates and City regulations regarding <br /> reduction /recycling of household waste. None of the proposed housing strategies in the proposed Housing <br /> Element will have any effect upon or result in any conflicts with solid waste disposal regulations, as it does <br /> not increase development capacity.
