Letter Opposing an Unsubstantiated Fee Increase on Hetch Hetchy by the <br /> Federal Government <br /> Council Member Ira Ruskin stated that. his concern is that recEò:.uly the Federal <br /> budget presented an' increased $8M per year Federal fee for thó Hetch Hetchy <br /> Reservoir in Yosemite National Park. The request is seeking support for sending a <br /> letter to local Federal representatives asking them to see that there is a rational <br /> basis for any increase and that it should have some logical relationship to the fees <br /> charged to other states, counties and cities for the use of Federal land. As <br /> Redwood City's representative and Chair to the Bay Area Water Supply and <br /> Conservation Agency, Mr. Ruskin drafted a similar letter himself on April 9. <br /> Recommendation <br /> M/S Ruskin/Hartnett to approve Mayor writing a letter to oppose the <br /> unsubstantiated Hetch Hetchy fee increase. The motion passed by a <br /> unanimous voice vote. MINUTE ORDER 04.78 <br /> Council Member Howard - thanked "Keep California Beautiful" and Oracle for <br /> their work and donations at the annual clean-up, on April 17, to clear a natural <br /> path along Redwood Creek. She further thanked Young Latino Leaders, the San <br /> Mateo Credit Union, Nor Cal Waste, Docktown Marina, several faith based <br /> groups, Boy and Girl Scout groups and the members of the Pride and Beautiful <br />.- Committee who lead the clean-up. <br /> She also announced the third annual Legislative Action Day on Wednesday, May <br /> 12, where elected officials, city leaders and staff go to Sacramento to voice <br /> concerns and maintain presence and pressure. <br /> Council Member Bain - stated that on Tuesday, April 27, the City of Menlo Park <br /> is hosting a Council study session on emergency preparedness at 701 Laurel <br /> Street at 6:00 p.m. He further stated his interest in Redwood City conducting a <br /> similar session in the fall. <br /> Vice Mayor Ira - reminded the community that Wednesday evening, April 28, the <br /> City's Parks and Recreation Commission will convene their meeting at 7:30 p.m. <br /> at the Community Activities Building (CAB), and will be an opportunity to discuss <br /> safety and the events surrounding the tragic shooting outside the CAB. The <br /> Commission has made this the primary topic on its agenda that evening.
